Races Are Cancelled For Nov 22nd

1 QUESTION........ HAS ANYONE TALKED TO CLARENCE TO SEE WHAT HE THINKS AND HIS INTENTIONS ARE? MAYBE GET A LIST OF WHAT NEEDS TENDED TO AND POST IT SOMEWHERE HERE SO ALL CAN SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO TO HELP OUT...........

I am going to be calling the track tomorrow to see what he thinks about this and what he wants to do..

Because all this is going to take is 4 straight weeks of full racer and fan participation , and the track will be up and running on its own again . 4 race nights that all of the cars that should show up to Putnam do so . All of the fans that have been going to other tracks or staying home show up to Putnam . Doesn't sound too difficult . But it needs to happen or another track is gone for good . If everyone can pitch in and help clean up and return the track to where it used to be , and if the racers and fans will show up for the next 4 shows in a row , i mean all of the cars and all of the fans , then Putnam will be back in business .

I don't agree with you on other tracks trying to put Putnam out of business....I have heard this same statement by another person that use to work there a couple of years ago...and that is not true at all.....But I do agree Putnam needs alot of promotion,some person to be a promoter for the track to get all the info out everywhere and to try and gain sponsors for the track....That is one big thing Putnam always lacked promotion.

THEY CAN'T SURVIVE OF THE ADMISSION GATES, TO MUCH HAS TO BE PAID OUT THEY NEED SPONSERS TO OFFSET THE RATIO, AND THIS WILL GIVE SOME RELIEF TO THE TRACK SO THEY COULD DO SO IMPROVMENTS, EVERYONE HAS THE OWN OPINION BUT ONE THING FOR SURE THEY NEED HELP.......BUT THE BIG QUESTION IS WHAT IS PCS PERPAIRED TO DUE? THE RACERS NEED TO HERE FROM MANAGEMENT THIS SHOW STABILITY, LOOK AT OCALA OR VSP,NFS WHEN THERE IS A TOPIC ABOUT THERE TRACK THEY ARE RIGHT IN IT...... Race tracks are always trying to rid themselves of their competition . Track owners never want to share the race cars or the fans . Even when tracks agree to work together , it doesn't last long . One track always wants to dominate . Thats why track owners purposley schedule races on top of another tracks races . But that isn't unusual . Thats how business works . In fact i remember hearing at the beginning of this year that Ocala was going to work closely with Putnam . That didn't last long .
NSF would like nothing better than seeing Putnam close up . Same goes for Volusia . They think all of the Putnam cars and fans would go to them . Now ,maybe they would and maybe they wouldn't , but those tracks sure think they would .

As far as promotion at Putnam goes , there really isn't any promotion or marketing going on there . But thats not really anyones fault . Even if Clarence could afford a full time marketing person , good ones are very few and far between . But once again , the racers and fans of Putnam can ride to the rescue . Any successfull race track counts on the racers and fans to promote as much as the track does . Any fan or racer who has any influence with a new car dealer in Palatka , ST. Augustine , Jacksonville , or any other city nearby , work on them to buy a billboard at the track , or donate a pace car or truck . Talk to the owner of the company you work for , or a company owner you know and get them to buy a billboard , or sponsor a race , or buy tickets for an " Employees Night at The Races " or give away tickets to the races with a certain purchase . Does any one know someone high up at any of the newspapers or radio or tv stations . Talk to them about covering the races . Does anyone have influence at the local schools . Taking race cars to schools for display always helps . Same goes for displaying race cars at a business , or in a parade . Handing out tickets to the children works pretty well , but its true that the parents are sometimes reluctant to bring them to the track . Local HS Football , Basketball , Baseball teams competing against each other at the track in cars or in some other way . Its all promoting , and it pays off .

OK I HEAR WHAT YOUR SAYING, BUT NOW COMES THE REAL PROBLEM......HOW TO GET THE CARS TO RETURN TO PCS, IN 06 THE COUNT WAS AROUND 90+, IN 07 THE COUNT WAS AROUND 70-, NOW IN 08 IT WAS LESS THEN 50.... SOMETHING NEEDS TO HAPPEN TO ATTRACT THE CARS BACK TO PUTNAM AND THAT IS GONNA TAKE NOTHING SHORT OF A MIRACLE AT THIS POINT....... THERE IS TEAMS MAD FOR ALL REASONS AND THEY DON'T FORGET EASY, THIS IS THE BIG CHALLANGE PCS HAS TO ENDORE, PCS HAS SOME OF THE BEST FACILITYS FOR TEAMS ALREADY BY FAR WITH CONCRETE SLABS AND SOME WITH POWER, TIRE MACHINE, THIS IS MORE THEN MOST IF NOT ALL OF THEM HAVE, BUT THIS IS NOT ENOUGH. NOW COMES ANOTHER PROBLEM RACERS ARE HAVING THERE OWN TROUBLE TRYING TO FIND SPONSORS TO RUN THERE CARS, IT'S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND A GOOD SPONSORS YOU FIGURE DEPENDING ON THE CLASS YOU RUN IT COSTS US ABOUT 400.00 A NIGHT TO RUN, SO THE TEAMS HAVE IT JUST AS HARD AS THE TRACK DOES.
