I remember this. It was when Potter had millions to put into making it look that way. If I could only win the lotto!!!!!! I'd promise to leave the baseball bat at home, and I might even consider allowing you to walk on the grass in case of emergency....lol It was pretty then huh?

i have got a crap loadof pics from when it looked like that me and peewee was just looking at them the other day i will have to see if i can post some later........

I'd love to see it look like that again. The track looked awesome.

There is a fairly easy way to make the track look like that again . If anyone has clay , from whatever source , donate it to the track . Lots of racers and fans from the area have trucks . Help by hauling the clay . Donate some paint or some painting labor .. Help mow or weed . Anybody with equipment , see if it can be usefull at the track for a weekend . The infield in that photo is still pretty much intact ( minus the tunnel ) , just needs to be cleaned up and smoothed out .
Clarence is doing all he can , but running Putnam is a little too much to do alone . And if the racers , fans , and for that matter Palatka , want a race track , then now is the time to pitch in and save it . Not only save it , but re-make it into the top dirt track in Florida that it once was .

I'd be willing to donate my time and what ever I can on a Sunday or a week night to help get things together. I can also just about guarantee I can get atleast 5 or 6 others to come help out. My Dad said he'd be willing and he is a great handy man. I also have a guy that would be willing to work something out with Clearence, to fix the score board. I know it has to be done by a licensed and insured electrical company, which in this case it would. All in all I'm down to help out in order to keep us a place to race and I'd bet there are alot of others who would too. Lets see if we can get something together......

I would b willing to help where I could.. I bet I could get a few more people out there too...Lets see what we can get together... I will talk to the track to see what they think about it...

I'm not a racer, but I'm the Mom of one. I love this track - and while it looked nice back when, it can look just as nice today with a little help. This is your home track - is it not? So many of you have so many talents - why not use them at the track. I know that the owner stepped up to the plate over a season ago when this track could have easily been left to close. Why can a few donate some seed - some get donations of clay - others can bring some paint and a brush - chip in - get a day or a weekend together and all show up in unison to get the job done! Personally, I'm good at supervising! LOL - or mothering - I can bring bandaids. Or maybe if some of the wives and significant others would like to pitch in - we can supply the food to keep the guys moving! Ok - who threw that tomato??? Seriously, is this possible?

IM IN JUST LET ME KNOW WHAT TO DO LETS GET THE TRACK BACK SO WE HAVE A NICE PLACE TO RACE

I think we can make this happen and need to before we lose our home track. I know i personaly don't want to drive any further to go race. I remember growing up going to ST.Augustine speedway and now it's just a perfectly good track just waisting away, it would be sad to see another on go.

WELL I DEFFINETLY THINK ALL OF US WOULD AND I THINK IT WOULDBE A GREAT IDEA IF WE COULD ALL GET TOGETHER A FEW TIMES ON A SAT WITH NO RACING AND SEE IF WE COULD ALL GET TOGETHER AND MAYBE HELP CLARENCE OUT I AM SURE HE WOULD LET US GO OUT THERE AND HELP !!!! Southerngirl03 , thats exactly whats needed . You're right , all it takes is a few days , plenty of volunteers , maybe some donations of supplies and equipment , and some hard work . The photos show the nicest and best dirt track ever built in the state of Florida . And its still there , just needs some major polishing .

HAS ANYONE TALKED TO CLARENCE ABOUT THIS VENTURE YET????
