This is an open message to everyone concerned with Putnam County Speedway, including the fans, the drivers, and the the officials and employees.
I have said many times that all of us are working to make PCS a better place, and we are. Unfortunately, everything will not go as planned 100% of the time, and last night was one of those times. A lot went wrong, and while we jokingly blame it on the full moon the truth is that people are responsible. Some of us made mistakes, including me.
Even though I am not responsible for most of what went wrong last night, I still want to offer my apologies that it happened. Part of it was quite embarrassing to me and to a lot of other people, and a lot of people were offended by the language used and the attitudes displayed. Myself and others spent a lot of time trying to undo the damage that was done because of it, mostly because we felt so bad about what happened and how it was initially handled. It NEVER should have happened in front of everyone, and I will admit that if it ever happens again that I will have to rethink my status at PCS.
Other mistakes were made as well, and again I apologize and promise that corrective measures are in progress. We are getting better at learning from our mistakes and taking the proper steps to keep them from happening over and over.
Last night after everyone had gone home, some of us sat down and had an open and helpful discussion. This is a very positive change from how it used to be when everyone went home and vented their frustrations at the world or on the internet, and a lot was accomplished last night by sitting there in the wee hours of the morning. I got back to Belleview at just before 4AM. We discussed every issue that arose during racing, and we openly discussed ways to correct them. I think all of us learned something from that meeting, and all of us went home feeling positive instead of going home mad or upset.
We all make mistakes, and that includes those of us who are trying to make PCS into what it should and could be. Again, Rome was not built in a day, and there were starts and stops along the way. Those of us working hard to correct the mistakes will continue to do so.
Thank you for your support, and I hope that it continues!
