| If anyone has an idea how I can fix my stupid brakes....I'm all ears.....Here is my problem....I replaced my master cylinder (we have no clue what the MC came from) with a MC from a 1970 truck....Apparently my pushrod was too long for this MC and I blew the seals out of 2 new MCs.....I want to have my car out there sat but dont know what to do about this issue....any input on what others are running for MCs and pushrod length is greatly appreciated..... I know the simple thing to do is put in a racing MC but the rules dont allow the racing MC in the hobbys... Chris Dosh | |

| I'VE BUILT 30 -40 OF THOSE METRIC CARS AND ALWAYS REMOVED THE POWER BOOSTER AND MADE AN ADAPTER PLATE AT LEAST AN EIGHTH OF AN INCH THICK WITH 6 HOLES IN IT FOUR OF THE HOLES AT THE TOP AND BOTTOM WERE THE ORIGINAL HOLES FOR THE BOOSTER CENTER THE OTHER TWO HOLES BETWEEN THE FOUR 3/8 DIA. HOLES AND ADD ABOUT AN INCH AND A HALF FOR THE MASTER CYL. THIS WILL KEEP THE PUSH ROD IN LINE WITH THE PEDAL. I ALWAYS USED A MANUAL, NON POWER MASTER CYL. FROM A '73' NOVA ? CHECK AT YOUR FAVORITE PARTS STORE. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE YOUR STOCK PUSH ROD WITH OUT MODIFICATION, BUT IF NOT I THINK YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO. I'VE NEVER BLOWN A MASTER CYL. BUT I HAD THE ROD ADJUSTED TOO LONG TWICE ON TWO DIFFERENT CARS. THE PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES BECAME GREATER AS THE RACE WENT ALONG AND THINGS HEATED UP CAUSING THE CAR TO SLOW DOWN .THIS IS NOT GOOD. HOPE I WAS ABLE TO HELP GOOD LUCK . JOANINTR | |

| We would ditch the booster and make a plate to support the firewall from moving. We used a master cylinder off a 68 chevelle. The rod should be fine Just make sure that when the pedal is released the rod is loose from the back of the master cylinder (no pressure against it) if it needs it grind it shorter. Also make sure the pedal has some type of stop to keep from pulling the rod out of the MC. | |

| Any master cylinder will work. some are just hard to push. Run what you have then find a better one. | |

| Put a grinder on that rod or adjust the pedal stop. Just make sure the rod completely releases and does not come out if you pull up on the pedal. | |
