Thank you, to all those who came out to help clean up, cut grass, run tractors, etc; at the track last weekend. Our Volunteer Weekend was a huge success. While there will be more grass to cut (over & over again), we sincerely appreciate all who came out to help, your time and dedication to the success of Putnam County Speedway, is truly appreciated.
I would also like to update everyone on what's REALLY going on at the track! To quell some rumors, Mr. Genovar has put me in charge of this 1st Annual Run for Fun on August 1st in order to save the grandfather clause on the zoning for Putnam County Speedway Park. This is a non-profit situation. The purpose of charging $5.00/$15.00 is to cover the costs of putting on this event. Mr. Genovar inherited substantial debt from the previous 4 yrs management of this race track. In addition to all the bills that were left unpaid, all the track equipment is in dire need of repair and we have been working diligently to get everything back to good working order. This is a very costly venture. The two individuals working closely with me are Jimmy Pugh and Mike Partin, which most of you know both of these gentlemen. The endless hours of time they have both committed to the restoration of the track and equipment is commendable and all voluntary.
We do have several individuals talking with Mr. Genovar regarding leasing/purchasing Putnam County Speedway and hope that it will all transpire for a new season by early spring of 2011. We appreciate all who support our fastest 3/8 mile track and hope you come out to join us (and possibly meet some potential new owners) on August 1st.
A special thanks to the following folks for their tireless efforts and hard work: Donnie Hoyt, Jayne Moheng, Teresa Cleary, Mike Butka, Mike Partin, and Jimmy Pugh - ya'll are great!
